Week 6

Kia Ora Koutou
On Tuesday, November 20th Te Whare Tui braved the weather and went paddleboarding on Lake Ngatu next to our school.
48 students, 8 parents 2 teachers and the Paddleboarding instructors Scott and Jo enjoyed their day at the lake even though the southerly wind was very cold and the heavy rain caused a torrent of water to flow under the sides of our gazebo over the matting and through the bags sheltering under the cover.
As the rain got heavier the 2  first groups that had had their turn traveled back to school to the warmth of their classroom to finish eating their lunch and watch a movie for the rest of the afternoon.
We all had a great day and are looking forward to our next session with SUP BRO paddleboarding.

Another week flies by.
We have been busy working on creating quality blogs to share.  Students have chosen samples of their work from the learning areas and posted them for viewing by their blogpals, friends and Whanau.
Next week we are all looking forward to Paddleboarding on Lake Ngatu with Scotty from Supbro.  More to come with pictures next week.

Week 2 - shake out

On Thursday, October 18 Te Whare Tui whanau participated in the NZ ShakeOut Drill.
In the far north we have not experienced earthquakes like other places in New Zealand, however, we have had several Tsunami warnings because we are so close to both the east and west coastlines at the top of the country.

Here the children are showing how to be safe if there was an earthquake during school time.

When the alarm continuously sounds we.....

     Stop whatever we are doing.

There was not much room under
my table so I put my hips, legs and
feet under a chair.

I tucked my legs and wrapped my arms around them then held on to the table legs.
